Our Story
Building Hardscapes, Building Trust.
Every patio, retaining wall, and walkway we build is backed by a family name. Here is how Rivera Hardscapes began.

Luis Rivera did not grow up expecting anything to be handed to him.
He came to the United States as an immigrant with a simple goal: work hard, build a stable life, and give his future family opportunities he never had growing up. When he first arrived in Kentucky, he took whatever honest work he could find. Long days, heavy labor, early mornings, and late nights became normal.
Over time, Luis found his place in outdoor construction. He started as a laborer, learning the hardscaping trade from the ground up: patios, retaining walls, walkways, drainage, grading, stonework, and outdoor living spaces. He paid attention to everything. Not just how to lay pavers, but how to treat customers, how to solve problems, how to price jobs, and how to build work that lasted.
Years later, after earning his U.S. citizenship, Luis decided it was time to build something of his own. He started Rivera Hardscapes in Lexington, Kentucky, with a truck, a few tools, and a reputation for showing up when he said he would. At first, it was small jobs: repairing walkways, rebuilding leaning walls, fixing drainage issues, and helping homeowners clean up outdoor spaces. But every project mattered to him because his name was on it.
His wife, Emily, became his biggest supporter and steady hand behind the scenes. While Luis handled the field work, estimates, and crews, Emily helped with scheduling, customer messages, invoices, and keeping the family grounded when the business felt uncertain.
Their two kids, Sofia and Mateo, grew up watching their dad leave before sunrise with muddy boots and come home tired but proud. To them, the business was not just about patios and stone. It was about sacrifice, discipline, and building a life one job at a time.
Today, Luis is known around Lexington for honest work, clean craftsmanship, and treating every property like it matters. His company has grown from small repairs into full outdoor transformations, including patios, retaining walls, fire pit areas, walkways, drainage solutions, and backyard living spaces.
But for Luis, success is not just the company. Success is walking across his farm with Emily behind their kids, watching Sofia and Mateo run ahead, knowing that the life he once dreamed about is now real. He built more than hardscapes. He built a home, a name, and a future.
Our Values
What drives our work every day
We don't just build patios; we build relationships with our Lexington neighbors based on trust and respect.
Honest Communication
No hidden fees, no bait-and-switch. We tell you exactly what your project needs, how long it will take, and what it will cost.
Uncompromising Quality
We never cut corners on the things you can't see, like base depth, compaction, and drainage, ensuring your hardscape lasts for decades.
Respect for Your Property
We treat your home like our own. We keep the job site clean, minimize disruption, and leave your yard looking better than we found it.
Trusted Partners
We know who to call when the work goes beyond hardscaping.
Lexington Patio Pavers handles patios, retaining walls, walkways, outdoor living, drainage, and grading. For mulching, seasonal maintenance, and other landscaping work, we refer homeowners to Orlando's Landscaping, a family-owned company we have trusted for six years.
Craftsmanship
We build it right the first time.
A beautiful patio that sinks in two years is a failure. That's why our standards go beyond the surface.
- 1Excavation & Base PreparationKentucky clay shifts. We excavate deeper than industry minimums and use heavy-duty compaction to prevent future settling.
- 2Water ManagementEvery project starts with drainage. We grade properly and install French drains or catch basins behind retaining walls so water moves away from your home.
- 3Premium MaterialsWe only use high-density, weather-resistant pavers and wall blocks sourced from trusted local suppliers, backed by manufacturer warranties.
